Years 10 and 11
All students study English, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Physical Education, Religious Education and three subjects of their choice.
The option scheme enables a wide choice while at the same time ensuring a balanced education so that career opportunities are not blocked at a later stage. Within this balance there is some room for bias, e.g. the scheme allows a student to take two humanities, two foreign languages, triple science, ICT, or a combination of Performing Arts.
Everyone is encouraged to enter for GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations or equivalent courses in Year 11.
Most students take nine subjects plus short courses and Physical Education. More able students can take ten or eleven subjects.
In Year 10 all students undertake a two week period of Work Experience at the end of the academic year.
