Sport at Cator Park

The school has two sports fields, a sports hall, a pavilion, a gymnasium and a conditioning gymnasium. We also use the facilities at The Spa and the Crystal Palace Sports Centre

We have several pupils who are at county, national or international level in their chosen sport.

As a school we teach the following activities: -

Aerobics, athletics, badminton, basketball, benchball, cross country running, dance, football, gymnastics, health related fitness, hockey, netball, rounders, tennis, trampolining and table tennis. Clubs and practices are held at lunchtime and after school as well as at the weekend. The PE staff and other interested staff and sixth form students run these clubs. Help from parents is always welcomed.

Sixth formers are able to follow courses which lead to the award of the Community Sports Leadership Award and the Higher Leadership Award.

We also participate in the Integrated Swimming Gala where we usually partner Woodbrook School.

We take part in all the competitions within the borough, travelling either by minibus or by coach to the venues. All our teams regularly play other schools.

The sports hall, as well as the fields, are used extensively by local clubs in the evening and at the weekend.

The school, in conjunction with Sport England and the New Opportunities Fund, will be refurbishing and extending its sports facilities in the next academic year. This will include the building of a brand new dance and fitness studio.

We have our own school sports co-ordinator who is linked to five primary schools in the area namely: Alexandra, Royston, James Dixon, St Johns and Malcolm. The main aim is to improve the learning of PE in these schools offering them the expertise available to do this and thereby increasing the pupil's achievement when arriving at secondary school.
