The Sixth Form at Cator Park is comprehensive and open-access. This means that students wishing to continue their education in the Sixth Form are invited to do so, provided that they meet the entry demands of the course they wish to study. During their period in the Sixth Form a high standard of attendance, punctuality, dress and conduct is required.
The Sixth Form is comprehensive in practice; it values all students equally and it sets up structures to bring together students from all backgrounds so that they learn from, and contribute to, each other's progress. Our tutor groups are mixed ability and students in them follow mixed courses.
The Sixth Form is both intellectually exciting and socially challenging. Apart from the lessons, there are a variety of activities which make intellectual, social and moral demands on our students. These activities include theatre visits, conferences, voluntary work in lower school classes, running the "Listening Service", organising the student voice, "Industry Challenge" and supporting the smooth running of the school through prefectorial duties. Several of these activities are organised by the students themselves. Details of the extra-curricular provision are explained in greater depth later in this pack.
We prepare our students for the world of work by developing key skills such as problem solving, teamwork and independent learning. Our students progress on to many different universities and further education colleges, including Oxbridge. Some of the careers they have taken up in recent years are medicine, biomedical science, business management, nursing, working with children, the Police, politics, engineering and languages.

Should your daughter or son wish to study a subject that is not listed please contact me so that we can look at ways of providing for their individual needs. We offer a flexible, personalised curriculum, which enables students to continue traditional and vocational courses. We do not restrict student subject choice and we will do our utmost to provide the course that students wish to study.
