Cator Park's success recognised by No 10

Cator Park has been recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country by the Government. Ms Davies was congratulated by the Prime Minister at a reception for successful schools at 10 Downing Street on Monday, January 11.

The school has been improving year on year since 2003, with significant improvements at GCSE and Post 16 in the last four years. Ms Davies said: “It is a great honour to be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country and to be invited by the Prime Minister to celebrate this achievement. Cator Park’s success is down to the hard work of all members of staff and students who have helped to make our school popular and oversubscribed. I am looking forward to continuing our good work’’.

The school has not only enjoyed academic success. We were the first school in the borough to gain the British Council International School Award. We are also one of 15 schools nationally remaining in the final of BBC Schools Question Time Challenge 2010 and will represent all schools in the South East of England. Cator Park students were the inaugural winners of the Bromley Schools' Debating Competition. Our KS3 Performing Arts Cub won first prize (and the Drama Shield) in this year’s Beckenham Festival. The full range of extra-curricular enrichment activities available to Cator Park students can be seen in our Newsletter and in the news pages on the website.

Ms Davies was also invited to the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust’s annual reception at the Guildhall in London. The event was hosted by the Lord Mayor of London and the guest speaker was the Right Honourable Ed Balls MP, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families.

In his speech, Mr Balls said, 'We've made real progress over the past 12 years with record exam results and the best generation of teachers we've ever had.”
