Introduction
All students in Years 7 - 11 follow the National Curriculum and Citizenship programme which integrates the National Curriculum Cross Curricular themes.
The school is fully comprehensive, so the work covered ranges widely in all years to allow all students, including the more able, to be fully stretched and given work which develops their abilities and is appropriate to their needs. There is in-class support for students with difficulties and additional provision for the more able.
Citizenship forms part of the Personal, Social and Health Education programme which aims to provide pupils with the skills and knowledge they require to be successful in both their personal and working lives and as future citizens. The course includes personal awareness and effectiveness, careers education and counselling, community education, political education, sex education within the family context, health matters, and money management. Parents wishing to withdraw their daughters from sex education lessons must apply, in writing, to the Headteacher.
