Key Stage 3
All students receive one hour a week of discrete ICT in Years 7, 8 and 9. Problem-based challenges allow students to build their capability by learning and applying skills in relevant and interesting scenarios, for example virtual tours, gaming, videos and animations. Students use a range of software including Office Applications, Web Design and Multimedia.
Key Stage 4
Core
All students study the OCR Level 2 National First Award in ICT through Years 10 and 11. Students will find it a useful introduction as to how businesses use ICT. There is no formal written examination just a series of assessment tasks contributing to the student's portfolio of evidence. There are two units covered in year 10 and 11, ICT Skills for Business and Creating Computer Graphics. This qualification is equivalent to one GCSE.
Option Students may opt to study towards the OCR Level 2 National Award in ICT. The course is vocational and students will find it a useful introduction as to how businesses use ICT. Key Stage 5
The Edexcel Applied Advanced Level in ICT is offered in the Sixth Form. There are three units at AS Level and three at A2. Each year two units are portfolio assessed and the third unit is a practical examination taken in the summer term. Students use a variety of software including Office Applications, Multimedia Design Tools and Project Management. Units Covered AS
