All pieces of homework in the subjects above should each take approximately 35 minutes and are set weekly except technology which should take approximately 1 hour.

Other exceptions are Geography and RE which both set project based Homework. Students will be set 2 challenges per term. This new approach will give students the opportunity to complete worthwhile enquiry based challenges that are built up over a number of weeks. This work will be level assessed and will go towards their end of year final level. Further information will be provided in a separate booklet produced by the Humanities faculty. Below are the dates for starting and submission of these challenges.

In addition to the subjects above, pupils will also be set homework weekly in the subjects below:
Your daughter's individual teacher in these subjects will inform your daughter of the specific day that the homework will be set. Your daughter should then write this into the homework diary in her planner

Art which should take approximately 30 minutes
Music and Dance which should take approximately 30 minutes
Art, Music and Dance are not set every week due to the practical nature of the subject.
Homework in ICT and Drama will be set as relevant to the course.
Latin (should your daughter be studying this subject), which should take approximately 30 minutes.

  • It is usually a good idea for students to tackle the homework on the night that it is set. This makes it easier for students to meet deadlines and prevents homework "building up" and becoming difficult to manage.
  • Quality of work, presentation and handing in the work to deadline is of the utmost importance.
  • Your daughter should always write her homework down in her planner even when the homework is not a written task.
  • We really appreciate your support in checking and signing planners weekly.
  • A homework club has been set up to help students. This meets every lunchtime and gives your daughter access to computers if she needs to carry out research or needs to type and print homework.
